Treating Superficial Digital Flexor Tendon Trauma to the Front Leg

Using the K Laser, I selected the Chronic Wound Setting Protocol to treat the Superficial Digital Flexor Tendon Trauma to the front leg of an 8yr old thoroughbred gelding. I treated the wound every second day, encompassing a good margin of the surrounding tissues. The pain and inflammation reduced after the first two treatments. I continued to treat the superficial flexor tendon every other day, within the week you could see the Laser had accelerated healing of the tissues. The horse presented with an open wound and swelling of the surrounding structures, the trauma/injury occurred 3 weeks earlier at the races. Application of animalintex poultice was applied and bandaged. The wound was not healing, therefore I was requested by the Trainer to use Laser Therapy treatment to heal the injury so the horse could return to training.

Overall administered 12 treatments

 Session one 6 November 2015.
